Meet Christopher
A Note from Christopher
I grew up in Decorah, spent a few years away, and returned with a renewed commitment to my hometown. In 2023, I was elected to the Decorah City Council to represent Ward 2, and I’m proud to be one of the youngest councilmembers in the City’s history.
Since returning home, I’ve been active in volunteer efforts, local events, and civic initiatives that strengthen the fabric of our community. From supporting youth and education to lending a hand at cultural and neighborhood traditions, I believe serving beyond City Hall is just as important as serving within it.
As a councilmember, I’m committed to transparent governance, thoughtful decision-making, and meaningful community engagement. That means listening, asking questions, and making decisions that are practical, well-informed, and focused on what’s best for Decorah today and in the years ahead.
Transparency, Respect, Collaboration
What I Bring to the Council
-
Transparency – clear, open communication about city decisions and how they impact residents.
-
Respectful leadership – valuing the expertise and contributions of city staff, volunteers, fellow councilmembers, and community members.
-
Collaboration – building practical partnerships across schools, nonprofits, businesses, and neighborhoods to move projects forward.
At 27, I represent a younger generation of leadership, but I don’t see age as a limitation. Leadership isn’t about how long you’ve served — it’s about how you listen, how you decide, and how you show up. I bring energy and a long-term perspective to the Council while valuing the experience and institutional knowledge of those who have served before me.
Christopher's
Community Involvement
Decorah is at its best when neighbors come together. Beyond City Hall, I’m proud to:
Volunteer
with local youth, education, and community initiatives.
Support
cultural, neighborhood, and community traditions that bring people together.
Work
alongside nonprofits and service organizations that strengthen Decorah.
For me, public service doesn’t stop at council meetings — it’s about showing up, listening, and contributing wherever I can in our shared community life.
